Food Banks Assist Workers During Shutdown

Tampa International Airport is hosting a food pantry to help workers who are not being payed during the government shutdown stating today. The pantry will be at the airport's Police Training Center at 5020 West Shore Blvd and will be open noon to 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. to 10 p.m.  Other groups are also helping out and you can check that list here.

Two Florida Highway Patrol troopers are being credited with saving a man's life Sunday afternoon. Trooper Tabarie Sullivan saw the on the northbound side and managed to talk him down and restrain him with the help off off-duty officer Captain Richard Benton. The man is safe and was Baker acted.

A Sarasota man caught an Amazon delivery man walking right into his house without permission. Michael Lentini saw him on his home security camera and was in the apartment elevator coming home and had the left the door unlocked.It's the third time Lentini said this has happened.

There's a new report out from the Surfrider Foundation giving Florida beaches a "D." The low score is due to what the environmental groups regards as overdevelopment at the beach, and instead of finding ways to prevent erosion just dumping more sand to replace what was lost. You can view the full report here.

There's a new scam targeting SunPass users. A warning from FDOT says fake emails are being sent from the address SunPassNotice@ezpass-collections.net. FDOT does not send past due notices through email and if you've received one and would like to let them know go to www.SunPass.com , or call the SunPass Customer Service Center at 1-888-865-5352.

Gas prices in the Bay area are at a two year low. AAA reports the average price here is $2.01 per gallon for now. Come spring expect a significant increase.
